This
Christmas, Ocean Terminal and Cyrenians are partnering together to spread some
joy and help those who struggle during the festive season. At Cyrenians, they support
those who find themselves homeless, but they also help individuals and families
who are at risk of becoming homeless. They run 49 services across Scotland that
address the complex routes into homelessness, including relationship breakdowns,
domestic abuse and evictions.
Whilst
many enjoy Christmas and the festivities, for others, it is a stressful time
spent worrying about how to afford rent and put food on the table. To relieve
this pressure and help people have some normality this Christmas, we are having
our first-ever Christmas Voucher Giving Tree! We are asking members of the
public to buy a voucher and donate it to the people who Cyrenians supports.
Through vouchers, you can give people a dignified choice to buy a gift for themselves
or ingredients for Christmas dinner – things that so many take for granted. By
doing this, you give people the autonomy to make choices about their lives,
which is fundamental to feeling respected, dignified and empowered.
Please feel free to take a tag and buy that person a voucher from a suitable retailer - think about where you would like to spend a voucher! Hand it into the Ocean Terminal Office, on the 2nd floor, opposite the Royal Yacht Britannia or to an Elf at Santa's Grotto and your voucher will be distributed to our services who supports those in need. We will be delighted if you join us on this mission to end homelessness and make sure everyone has a safe and stable place to call home.
The Gift Giving Tree is located on the 2nd floor, next to Santa's Grotto and opposite Vue Cinema.
