Ocean Terminal | St Columba’s Hospice
In 2018, Ocean Terminal created a charity partnership with
St Columba’s Hospice which to date has seen over £140,000 raised for the local
independent charity as well as raising awareness of the work the hospice does
in helping people with terminal illnesses in our community. This has been
achieved through a number of initiatives including exhibitions, Santa’s Grotto,
Christmas gift wrap, Dragon Boat Charity Race event, a St Columba’s Hospice
Care shop and donation wishing well located in the centre.
We extend our thanks to all who have supported and continue
to support our ongoing partnership, be it through shopping in the charity store
on the 1st floor, donating some change via the wishing well on the 2nd floor or
taking part in an activity that has helped raise funds and awareness like the
Dragon Boat Race or attending our Santa’s Grotto.
St Columba’s Hospice | An Overview
St Columba’s Hospice Care is an independent Scottish charity
providing hospice and end-of-life care for people with incurable illnesses and
their families all across Edinburgh and the Lothians since 1977. From
residential palliative care to counselling support, and from local education to
international research partnering- we create space for the things that matter
to our patients, their families, our staff, volunteers and our partners. Our
fully integrated team of professionals and administrative staff are grateful to
have the support of just over 600 volunteers. Our services currently include a
22- bedded inpatient unit, a day therapies service, a community team, a
bereavement and family support service, and an education and research facility.
The management of pain and other symptoms and provision of psychological,
social and spiritual support is paramount. Our Hospice care is a multi-disciplinary
approach with the patient always at the centre.
