The Retina Festival celebrates the very best of photography and there are events and exhibitions taking place at Ocean Terminal this July which are free to attend.

Emerging Talent Exhibition

10 photographers showcase their work as part of this exhibition – the ones to watch.

12 topics, 12 photos within 6 hours.  Anyone can take part!


The entries will compete against each other coming up with an original concept for each topic which will then face a public vote via social media. Each entry will have an A2 contact sheet of their images displayed at The Image Collective from 14th July - 31st July 2017. The winner of each topic will have their winning image printed and mounted on pvc and exhibited alongside their contact sheet.

Shutter Hub

Exhibition & Events taking place at The Dark Room, 1st floor next to Zizzi.

Shutter Hub is the photography organisation providing opportunities, support and networking for creative photographers worldwide.


Shutter Hub OPEN exhibition

Shutter Hub brings together international photographers in a selected exhibition, promoting the future of photography through diverse and creative imagery.


Visitors are invited to vote for their ‘Best in Show’ throughout the exhibition and take part in the conversation about photography through a talk and Q&A session, as well as a meet-up and portfolio reviews.

Talk by Shutter Hub Creative Development Director, Karen Harvey, followed by Q&A

This will be a chance for people to find out a bit more about Shutter Hub and the work that they do and to ask the Shutter Hub team any photography related questions.

Portfolio Reviews

An opportunity to sit down and get one to one feedback and advice on your work from experienced professionals. Discuss current and future projects, get critical feedback, ask questions and get a fresh perspective on your photographic practice.


Reviews are open to any interested photographer, and cost £25 per 20 minute slot, or you can book 3 slots with 3 different reviewers for £55.
