Exhibition: Troubadours & Mavericks By Lawrence Watson
Friday 31st March - Sunday 14th May (Dates vary, check listing via link below)
This premiere show contains a collection of Lawrence Watson's now iconic music photography spanning the last 30 years.
Lawrence Watson is a British photographer who documented the rise of many famous Bands and Artists and was a regular staff photographer at the NME through the 1980s and 1990s. This installation focuses on the past 30 years of his work in the 1980s, and 90s and his current work with Noel Gallagher.
The multimedia exhibit will contain never before seen photographs of Noel Gallagher’s High flying Birds, The Smiths, Oasis, Ian Brown, David Bowie, Run DMC, New Order and many many more.
The exhibition will showcase over 2000sqft of musical archive, audio clips, films and interviews.
Lawrence Watson says that 'The title reflects my feeling towards the musicians as the travelling minstrels spreading their gospel according to them and them only, no compromises and in their own original style. I think the greats sit outside the confines of the music industry, their music doing all the talking for them, over the many years'.
'I have been shooting musicians, and I feel privileged and blessed to have been able see all these shows, and also sit in recording sessions when great music was being played or made. There are only a few important things in life, and music is one of them. I’ve never called it a job but the luckiest break ever. I hope some of them inspire you as they have me.'
Entry is free, but due to demand, please book a ticket to guarantee entry.
Opening times 12pm until 7pm - Dates Vary (Please see main-site for full list of dates) event ends 14th May 2017
